Pundit verdict: Chelsea is not a place for weak players - Chelsea prize asset linked with shocking Man City and Liverpool transfer amid takeover uncertainty
The academy graduate has been a stalwart under both Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel since making his breakthrough Chelsea are fearful of losing midfield star Mason Mount due to their takeover situation, according to a report in The Sun. That is despite the Raine Bank group naming Todd Boehly’s consortium as the preferred bidder just days ago.
If the takeover goes through, it would put an end to a two-month saga at the club. It all stemmed from owner Roman Abramovich being sanctioned by the UK Government following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, putting a freeze on all of his assets in the nation.
The Blues were put on a special sporting licence, but were not allowed to sell tickets or merchandise as well as offer contracts to players among other restrictions. Some of these have since been eased, but until a takeover is completed, there is still uncertainty at the club.
