Graeme Souness predicted that Manchester United are destined to come up short in this year's Premier League title race - just hours before they dropped points in a frustrating 1-1 draw with Southampton.

A second-half strike from Mason Greenwood was enough to cancel out an own goal by Fred - and ultimately helped to salvage a point for United.


But it's still a sobering result after their emphatic 5-1 demolition of bitter rivals Leeds United in their opening game last week.

And it's also a result that vindicates the verdict of Sky Sports pundit Souness, who admitted that he still had doubts that United could clinch the title this season.
